Close Reading

Hi all

We have been linking our close reading and formal writing activities to themes and ideas generated by the Taming of the Shrew.

When we 'close read' unfamiliar texts in class such as newspaper or magazine articles, what do you find easy or difficult to do? Do you feel confident when you are asked to analyse a text? Can you easily identify language features or techniques? How do you know if a text is formal or informal?
